I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether field allowance has yet been granted to officers and men of the East Yorkshire Regiment serving with the 8th Division; and, if not, can he state on what grounds it has been with, held.

This question arises, I think, from a statement made in this House by the hon. Member for Tonbridge on the authority of a paragraph in The Times. I am glad to have opportunity of contradicting the statement.

† See page 333.
Men are never granted field allowance, I but I have myself seen the receipts of the various officers for the allowances in question.
