asked the Secretary to the Treasury whether the paragraphs on pages 49 and 50 of the Fourth Report of the Civil Service Commission, under the heading of temporary or unestablished employment, refer to the temporary employment of ex-soldier clerks in the War Office?

The observations of the Royal Commission referred to in the hon. Member's question are of a general character, their applicability to particular situations is, as the Commission recognise, a matter for future consideration.
