Considered in. Committee.

I would point out that this was not one of the Bills which the Prime Minister read out at Question time.

I beg to move, "That the Chairman do report Progress, and ask leave to sit again."

We ought not to be asked to take at this time of night a Bill of this description, containing Clauses to which some of us have rooted objection, and to which we have been unable to put down Amendments because the Irish Bill was to have been taken. If the Bill is proceeded with, it will be necessary for us to write out our Amendments as we go along, a course which is most inconvenient for all concerned. I hope the discussion will be postponed.

There has evidently been a misunderstanding, and therefore I accept the hon. Gentleman's Motion.

Question put, and agreed to.

Committee report Progress; to sit again to-morrow (Tuesday).
