Mr. MIDDLETON
asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Transport whether he will, in the interests of a large section of the wage-earning public, use his influence with the railway companies to lower the price of railway season tickets operating on suburban lines?
Lieut.-Colonel ASHLEY
While I am arranging for a copy of the hon. Mem- ber's question to be forwarded to the railway companies, I would remind him that the Minister has no jurisdiction over railway charges, but that Sections 60 and 78 of the Railways Act, 1921, provide a means by which representations can now be made to the Rates Tribunal with respect to reductions in those charges.
