asked the Under-Secretary of State for India what was the total cost of the compilation of the statement regarding the moral and material progress of India during the year 1921; whether the cost is borne by the Government of India or by the home Government; and how much of the cost has been recovered by the sale of the book?

I do not know the cost of the compilation of the statement, but will ask the Government of India. The cost is borne by the Government of India, except that the home Government pay the cost of press work (not composition), paper and freight in respect of the copies required for the public service in this country. I will ask the Government of India how much of the cost has been covered by the sale of the book in India. In this country the sales up to the present amount to £33 10s.
