Brigadier-General COLVIN
asked the Postmaster-General whether the candidates for Post Office supplementary clerkships, who, being ex-service men, were specially nominated and who successfully passed the examinations in 1920 and 1921, and who now number about 40, will be appointed to these clerkships as vacancies arise without further examination?
Mr. CHAMBERLAIN
In addition to those already appointed, a certain number of candidates from these examinations will be appointed to clerical posts without further examination; but the lists will have to be closed down shortly, both to provide for the claims of other ex-service men and to afford opportunities to the Post Office staff generally to compete for clerical vacancies.
