Ordnance Survey Maps (Royalties)

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he can give details of the amounts obtained in royalties in the sale of ordnance survey maps in the years 1918 to 1922, inclusive?

Shipbuilding Yards (Fatal Accidents)

asked the Home Secretary if he could state the figures of fatal accidents in shipbuilding yards during the last 10 years?

The figures are as follow: For 1913, 157; for 1914, 149; for 1915, 136; for 1916, 145; for 1917, 150; for 1918, 176; for 1919, 178; for 1920, 187; for 1921, 120; and for 1922, 77.

Unemployment

Benefit Disallowed (F P Malen)

asked the Minister of Labour if he is aware that Frederick Percy Malen, aged 23, residing at 4, Waterloo Street, Tipton, has had his unemployment benefit disallowed, and that the same applies to his sister; whether this decision is due to the fact that they are single and reside with their parents; and, if so, will he cause inquiry to be made with a view to making some adjustment?

I am having inquiries made into these cases, and will communicate the result to the hon. Member.

Boards Of Guardians (Loans)

asked the Minister of Health if he will give particulars of the total amounts of the loans authorised in each case to the various boards of guardians in the United Kingdom for the purpose of meeting unemployment charges during the last two years, and the amount of the rates in each union borrowing?

I am sending the hon. Member a statement containing the particulars for which he asks so far as they relate to England and Wales. For particulars relating to other parts of the Kingdom I must refer the hon. Member to the appropriate Departments.

West African Colonies (Export Duties)

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies what export duties are levied in Nigeria, the Gold Coast, Sierra Leone, and Gambia, respectively, on the produce of those territories; and what amounts were realised in each case by these duties?

In Nigeria there are export duties of £3 per ton on palm oil and £2 per ton on palm kernels. The amounts realised by these duties in 1920 and 1921 were on palm oil £240,404 and £158,315, and on palm kernels, £436,172 and £311,286. In the Gold Coast there is an export duty of £2 6s. 8d. per ton on cocoa. The amounts realised in 1920 and 1921 were £580,456 and £622,153. In Sierra Leone there is an export duty of £1 per ton on palm kernels. The amounts realised in 1920 and 1921 were £136,000 and £26,000. In the Gambia there is a duty of £1 per ton on ground-nuts. The amounts realised in 1920 and 1921 were £26,614 and £55,281.

Royal Irish Constabulary Tribunal

asked the Prime Minister whether the Royal Irish Constabulary Tribunal may be instructed to treat the case of every Royal Irish Constabulary pensioner who was compelled to break up his home in Ireland as coming within the scope of the Royal Irish Constabulary Revised Terms of Disbandment Order, 1922, Section 8, paragraphs (a), (b), and (c), in view of the peculiar sufferings of this class?

The powers of the tribunal under Section 8 extend to all men who were disbanded under the Act. All such cases are being dealt with. They do not extend, and cannot be extended to other pensioners.
