asked the First Lord of the Admiralty the number of candidates who have sat for the dockyard apprentices examination; the number that have passed: and the number that have subsequently completed their fourth year of attendance at the dockyard schools, in each year since 1918?

The information is as follows:of such men that have left or been discharged from the dockyards during each year since 1920?

I am afraid that this information is not readily available, and its compilation would entail an expendi- ture of time and labour which, I hope, my hon. Friend will agree would not be justified by the results.
