asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether the 12 cruisers now in reserve commission are ready for full commissioning and immediate service; and, if not, what period would elapse before they would be in all respects ready for sea?

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative; as to the second part, the periods would vary according to the condition of the ships, and the nature of the emergency which required their being put in full commission.

Can the hon. Gentleman give the longest period that would elapse?
