asked the Minister of Agriculture for the latest available date, what percentage of the total amount of sugar consumed in Great Britain is represented by sugar produced from sugar beet grown in this country?

The total quantity of sugar retained for home consumption in the United Kingdom during the year ended 31st March, 1934, was 37,778,488 cwt., of which 8,257,297 cwt.—approximately 22 per cent.—represented sugar produced from home-grown beet.
