asked the Minister of Labour the number of young persons, girls and youths, and the number of men and women insured against unemployment at the latest available date?

Estimates of the numbers of persons insured under the provisions of the Unemployment Insurance Acts are made once each year on the basis of information obtained at the annual exchange of books in July. Statistics relating to July, 1934, analysed by age, sex, and industry, are now being prepared, and will be published in the next issue of the Ministry of Labour Gazette on 19th November. I will arrange that when the figures for which the hon. Member asks are available, a statement shall be supplied to him, giving the desired information.
