asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is now the approximate cost of transmitting gold from London to New York, including freight, insurance, loss of interest during transit, and any other incidental matters?

I understand that the cost of transmitting gold from London to New York is normally about eight shillings per cent. at the present time.
