asked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware of the inconvenience caused by the delay of the Ministry in granting sanction for road construction schemes; that five months elapsed before sanction was granted in the case of the York-Tadcaster scheme; and whether this delay can be obviated in future?

Sanctions are given with such speed as is compatible with the evolution of plans and this is generally appreciated by Highway Authorities concerned.
