asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty particulars of the number of attempts wilfully to damage ships of the Royal Navy during the 12 months ended the last convenient date; and what action has been taken against the offenders?

Since the reply I gave the hon. Member on 27th April last, there has been one further case of suspected sabotage to His Majesty's ships. During the last 12 months no case has arisen in which the formal investigations revealed conclusively who were directly responsible, and the latter part of the question does not, therefore, arise.

I do not think it is in the public interest to do so. It was a very minor case.
