asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster whether the fish-dealers, wholesale and retail, will be reimbursed their losses, suffered through the failure of the Bennett Scheme in the Manchester area?

Under the scheme of control for fish which has recently been terminated wholesalers acted as agents of the Ministry of Food. There is no question, therefore, of their having made losses. As regards retailers, it must be remembered that there was and still is, a reduced supply of fish, but I have no reason to believe that, on balance, those retailers who received an allocation of fish under the scheme were not able to sell it at a profit.
