asked the Minister of Labour what steps it is desired should be taken by those responsible for munition works to ensure that essential workmen are not withdrawn for service elsewhere?

The arrangements which have been made do not require any initiative on the part of employers to prevent essential workpeople from being accepted as members of the National Defence Services. The Schedule of Reserved Occupations has been drawn up and is being operated with this object.
