asked the Secretary of State for Air whether, in order to ensure that the jobs will be ready for the men, he intends to make use of labour in the counties of Northumberland and Durham at present unemployed by the establishment of Air Ministry factories in that region?

Having regard to all relevant considerations, it is not considered desirable to establish a factory for aircraft production in this area. But preference in the placing of contracts for ancillary material will continue to be given wherever possible to this district in common with other Special Areas.

Owing to the unsatisfactory nature of the reply, I beg to give notice that I shall raise the matter on the Adjournment.
