The Chancellor of the Exchequer
(Sir Kingsley Wood)
I beg to move, in page 2, line 28, after "Act," to insert "or".
This Amendment and the following Amendment are of a drafting nature. As the Clause stands, it refers to "payment in respect of war damage" in relation to payments under the War Risks Insurance Act, 1939. In fact, the phrase used in the Act is "damage arising from King's enemy risks," and not "war damage". It is to make this correction that I move the Amendment.Amendment agreed to.
Further Amendment made: In page 2, line 29, after "thereof," insert:
"or in respect of damage arising from King's enemy risks."
Motion made, and Question proposed, "That the Clause, as amended, stand part of the Bill."
Sir R. Tasker
May I ask my right hon. Friend the Chancellor what is the difference between Clause 3 of this Bill and Section 3 of the original Act?
Sir K. Wood
I do not think one can really compare Clause 3 in one Bill with Clause 3 in another.
Sir R. Tasker
I would point out that the two are identical.
Sir K. Wood
I will look into the matter.
Question, "That the Clause, as amended, stand part of the Bill," put, and agreed to.
