asked the Secretary of State for War whether he will consider making arrangements whereby former professional journalists now serving in the Armed Forces in the various theatres of war will be encouraged to apprise the public in this country in regard to political developments in their area?

As a result of the Debate on the Adjournment on 23rd March the question of the rules in regard to contributions to the Press by officers and men is now being re-examined. I should, however, point out that since the journalists referred to by my hon. and gallant Friend are now soldiers they should devote their energies and abilities particularly in theatres of war to their military duties.
