asked the Minister of Labour whether he can give an approximate estimate of the percentage of the whole available civilian labour of Great Britain and Northern Ireland which has been employed in the provision of airfields, camps, hospitals, supply depots, roads and other constructional work for the Armed Forces of the United States of America since that country came into the war?

Of the civilian labour employed altogether in the building and civil engineering industries about 20 per cent. is at present engaged upon work for the Americans.
