asked the Minister of Health whether he will take legislative steps to provide pensions for persons permanently suffering from varying degrees of physical infirmity directly traceable to the consumption of milk supplied by the Ministry of Food containing pathogenic organisms productive of diseases in consumers and which medical officers of health have no power to reject?

No, Sir. I do not think that this would be an appropriate method of dealing with the problem of ensuring a supply of clean and safe milk. That problem is engaging the closest attention of the Government and I would ask my hon. Friend to await a statement of policy which it is hoped to make at an early date.
