asked the Minister of Health when his plans for a comprehensive medical and health service are likely to be brought before the House; whether he is receiving advice and information and taking evidence in preparation for this; and whether it will include the mental hospital and mental deficiency services?

Preliminary discussions are now taking place with representatives of the medical profession, the local authorities and the voluntary hospitals. I contemplate publishing in advance of the introduction of legislation and, I hope, in the course of the next two or three months a general statement of my proposals which will afford all concerned an opportunity of considering and criticising them. The answer to the last part of the Question is "No, Sir."
