asked the Home Secretary whether he will give a brief explanation as to the reasons for the introduction by his Department of Statutory Rule and Order No. 462?

Under Article 22 (paragraph (2)) of the Aliens Order, aliens who are members of H.M. Forces are deemed not to be aliens for the purposes of the Order, and are, therefore, exempt from all its provisions. There are, however, certain requirements of the Aliens Order which ought to apply to those aliens who, as members of the Home Guard, perform part-time military service. Statutory Rule and Order No. 462 sets out the provisions which apply to alien members of the Home Guard.
