asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of War Transport whether he will grant permission for the age limit of 18 to be reduced to 17 years for persons to drive tractors on the public roads?

As a temporary war measure, and in view of the present urgency of food production, the age limit for drivers of agricultural tractors (up to 7ΒΌ tons) has already been reduced from 21 to 17 years, but I do not think it is desirable to reduce the existing minimum age limit of 21 for drivers of tractors used for general road haulage.
