Resolution reported:
"That for the purposes of any Act of the present Session to amend the law relating to electoral registration and to voting at parliamentary and local government elections, to make provision with respect to jurors books, to amend the law relating to returning officers for Scottish constituencies, and to provide for matters connected with the purposes aforesaid, it is expedient to authorise the payment out of moneys provided by Parliament—(a)of one-half of the expenses of registration officers in Great Britain in performing their functions under that Act, including all proper and reasonable charges for trouble, care and attention in the performance of those functions and any costs incurred by such an officer as party to an appeal; (b)of one-half of any expenses properly incurred by the proper officer of a local authority in England or Wales in the performance of the functions of registration officers tinder the said Act, including reasonable charges for the proper officer's own trouble, care and attention in the performance of those functions and for the remuneration and expenses of any staff provided by the authority; (c)of any expenses properly incurred by registration officers in Northern Ireland in connection with their functions under the said Act, the said expenses to be calculated subject to the provisions of Subsection (2) of Section fifteen of the Representation of the People Act, 1918, as if they were registration expenses as denned for the purposes of that Section, and to include the expense, of any printing required in connection with the performance of those functions; and (d)of any sums paid by registration officers in Northern Ireland in respect of services performed and expenses incurred by overseers under the said Act."
