The Minister of Fuel and Power
(Mr. Shinwell)
With the permission of the House, I would like to inform them that I have now received the Report of the Committee of Inquiry into the Gas Industry which was constituted by my predecessor in June, 1944. The Report is an interesting and valuable document, and I have arranged with the Stationery Office for copies to be available in the Vote Office early this evening so that hon. Members may be able to make themselves acquainted with its substance and recommendations, which relate to the reorganisation of the industry. I am very grateful to Mr. Geoffrey Hayworth, the Chairman, and the Members of the Committee, for having made a searching and exhaustive inquiry into a difficult and technical subject of national importance.
