Departmental Debt Holdings

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will state to the nearest £1,000,000 the amount of debt held by Government Departments on 31st March, 1944 and 1945, under the separate headings of (1) Floating Debt and (2) Other Internal Debt, excluding bonds tendered for death duties.

The figures are as follow:

The principal Government Departments whose holdings are comprised in the above totals are: Admiralty, Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Ministry of Fuel and Power, Crown Lands, Department of Health for Scotland, Treasury, Ministry of War Transport, Custodian of Enemy Property, Board of Trade, Ministry of Health, Post Office, Paymaster-General and National Debt Commissioners.
