:There is one matter which I have to report to the House. It is a matter which I have to report at the earliest possible moment and I confess that I have not been able to give it perhaps the full consideration which it deserves. It is my duty to protect the officers of this House and it so happens that during this day on which the House was sitting, a writ was served on an officer of the House within its precincts. Had it been served upon a Member of Parliament no doubt the matter would have been raised at once by that Member in this House and it would have been submitted to the Committee of Privileges. In these circumstances I thought I had better mention the fact to the House that a writ was served upon one of those whom I have to protect, and served within the precincts of the House, and therefore it seems to me that a prima facie case of Privilege has been established.

I beg to move,

"That the subject matter communicated to the House by Mr. Speaker be referred to the Committee of Privileges."

Question put, and agreed to.
