asked the Minister of Education if he is aware that Flight-Lieutenant Roger Hoggarth, of the C.E. school, Market Rasen, has been asked to pay £48 9s. 10d. superannuation contributions, from April, 1942, to January, 1946, by the local education authority from a salary which he never received; and if he will prevent this injustice to an aircrew volunteer.

As Flight-Lieutenant Hoggarth's war service pay was equal to or exceeded his salary as a teacher he can preserve his pension rights for his period of war service only by paying the contributions required by the Teachers (Superannuation) Acts. My Department, not the local education authority, asked him for the arrears and has offered to accept payment by instalments. There is no compulsion on Flight-Lieutenant Hoggarth to pay, but, if he does not, his period of war service will not count towards his pension.
