I beg to move, in page 103, line 3, after "section," to insert:

"or under any such provision of an order as is mentioned in subsection (3) of the last preceding section."
This is consequential on the canal and port facilities Clause.

I think it reasonable to ask the Minister if he would explain briefly how this Amendment is consequential. I have been trying to follow the thing, and I cannot get it straight What is the effect of the various Amendments to which we have been agreeing, inserting the word "or order"? What is the real significance?

I can best explain that when I come to the new Clauses. These are necessary drafting Amendments to Clauses previous to the new Clause. These Amendments are consequential on the proposed new Clause, which I shall move later on. The hon. Member for Montrose Burghs (Mr. Maclay) knows that when we come to that stage certain methods are adopted for meeting. to a very large extent, the case in which he has been so interested in Committee. I feel that he should be fairly familiar with the ground, and I do not want to deal in detail with these consequential Amendment. I thought we agreed to deal with the matter fully when we come to the Clause.

What the Minister is doing is perfectly in keeping with Government policy. These Amendments are consequential on something which has not yet been done.

Amendment agreed to.

Clause, as amended, ordered to stand part of the Bill.
