Oatcakes

asked the Minister of Food if, in view of the fact that oats are 98 per cent. a home-grown product, he will consider removing oatcakes from points, or placing them on a parity with bread units.

The present output of oatcakes is limited by the shortage of fats and not by the quantity of home-grown oats available. I am, therefore, unable to accept the suggestion that they should be released from points. Oatcakes at two points per lb. are on a parity with cake and flour confectionery.
