asked the President of the Board of Trade what steps are being taken to finance and encourage the development of an increased acreage of tobacco in Rhodesia and other places within the Empire, so as to make us less dependent on supplies from the U.S.A. in view of the existing shortage of dollars.

My right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer dealt with this matter, among others, in his speech during the Debate on the Finance Bill on Tuesday, 10th June, and I am not at present in a position to add to what he then said.
