Business Of The House

Volume 441: debated on Wednesday 30 July 1947

The text on this page has been created from Hansard archive content, it may contain typographical errors.

May I ask the Lord President of the Council if he has any statement to make in regard to Business?

Yes, Sir. After the consideration of Business of Supply Tomorrow, and the Second Reading of the Isle of Man (Customs) Bill, it is proposed to take the Motions on the Paper relating to Double Taxation Relief. With regard to the further Amendments to the Transport Bill which have been received from another place, it is proposed to consider them on Monday next.

May I take this opportunity of adding this statement with regard to another matter? The Report from the Committee of Privileges and a Special Report have just become available in the Vote Office. Right hon. and hon. Members will require time to consider the Report, which is of some length, before Debate takes place. The House will require to debate the Report and the Government will afford an opportunity. The House will not, however, expect me to name the date now, until there has been time to ascertain the wishes of the House through the usual channels. The matter is complicated by the absence of the hon. Member for Gravesend (Mr. Garry Allighan) who, I am informed, is on his way to South Africa on medical advice.
