The number of notices of assessment to Special Contribution issued was approximately as follows:

At 28th May, 1949	…	80,000

It is estimated that about 125,000 individuals are liable to the contribution.

The number of remittances received on account of Special Contribution was approximately as follows:

At 28th May, 1949	…	106,000

In some cases, however, more than one remittance was received in respect of the liability of a single individual. It is estimated that the number of cases in which a payment had been made by 28th May was 95,000, and that about 125,000 individuals are liable to contribution.
