asked the Secretary of State for Scotland when he considers local authorities will be permitted to provide modern slaughterhouse premises and equipment necessary in the interests of food hygiene and public health.

Work on slaughterhouses in Scotland may be authorised at the present time if it is urgent and essential from the standpoint of public health and food hygiene.
