asked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations why, in view of the continued default of the Government of India, he has failed to implement his guarantee in Command Paper 7192 of 1947, supplemented by letter dated 29th January, 1948, of India's liability to pay to Mr. F. M. G. Wheeler, formerly of the Indian State Railway Service, £5,767 14s. 7d., which became due on 15th December, 1949, from the Railway Provident Fund; and if he will forthwith discharge this obligation with interest from the due date.

I am happy to say that our High Commissioner in India has reported that the Government of India have now agreed to pay to Mr. Wheeler the sum due to him. The question whether interest is being paid is being taken up with the Government of India.
