asked the Minister of Health now that the scales of salaries for ranks above that of ward sister have been published, and since matrons and chief male nurses were placed on a par under the Nurses Act, 1950, why there are differences in the rates of salaries between these two grades in teaching hospitals to the disadvantage of the chief male nurse.

The matron has the responsibility for training, and the chief male nurse has not.
