asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he is aware of the lack of good maps of the Colonial Territories; and whether he will sponsor the publication of an atlas of the Colonial Empire.

My right hon. Friend is well aware that good maps are lacking in many Colonial Territories. To remedy this defect the Central Directorate of Colonial Surveys was set up in 1946 and is turning out work as fast as available resources permit.
