asked the Minister of Defence if he will now give an assurance that no Service personnel shall suffer financial loss in pay and allowances by reason of being posted to a war area from their peace station.

In cases where the cost of maintaining a reasonable standard of living is lower in the war area than at the peace station, any local overseas allowance which a Service man has been getting may be reduced or withdrawn. But the lower cost of living ensures that the man is not worse off.
