asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what were the numbers of people entering Northern Rhodesia in the years 1948, 1949 and 1950; and how many of these came from the Union of South Africa.

The figures are as follow:

The figures for the last quarter of 1950 are not yet available. It is estimated that 50 per cent. of immigration into Northern Rhodesia from the Union of South Africa is offset by re-emigration and that 25 per cent. of immigration from the United Kingdom is similarly offset.
