asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware of the delays being experienced by British manufacturers in obtaining shipping facilities to East Africa; and whether he will assist them.

Yes, Sir. The difficulty is the capacity of the port of Mombasa, which is being enlarged; the full benefit of this should be felt next year.

Can my right hon. Friend tell the House to what extent these alterations to the port will increase capacity?
