asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will state the number of women who have been imprisoned under the Street Offences Act since the Act came into operation.

The provisional figure for the number of women sentenced to imprisonment up to the end of 1960 is 494. Information about the number of women who have served terms of imprisonment in default of payment of a fine is not readily available.
