asked the Minister of Education how many teachers are being trained annually under the supplementary course for experienced teachers for special schools; and whether this number reaches requirements.

160 teachers attended supplementary courses and 65 attended special courses of advanced study for experienced teachers in the year 1960–61. Only teachers of deaf, partially deaf, and blind children are required to obtain a specialist qualification as a condition of permanent appointment. The supply of teachers of the blind from the supplementary course and other sources is sufficient for requirements, but the supply of teachers for deaf and partially deaf children is
