asked the Prime Minister what instructions he gave to the Secretary of State for War and the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs with regard to the cancellation of the move of the 19th Brigade to Portugal.

I gave no special instructions. In view of the commitments of our forces and aircraft elsewhere, it was found that the exercise would have to be postponed.
