asked the Minister of Works what protests he has received about new developments being approved which encroach upon the immediate surroundings of Monk Bretton Priory, near Barnsley; whether he has inspected the plans; and what representations he has made to the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs about these developments.

The only protest I have received, apart from that of the hon. Member, has come from a local resident who objects to the building proposals of the borough council near the Priory. At all stages my Department has been in consultation with that of my right hon. Friend and, as our views do not conflict, I have made no representations to him.
