asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs how many local councils having ordered and accepted delivery of turnstiles for public conveniences have refused to erect them, in view of Her Majesty's Government's recent statement; and if he will take power to compensate the councils concerned.

I regret that this information is not available. Two councils are known to have decided to put new turnstiles temporarily into store; there may be others of whom I do not know. The answer to the second part of the question is in the negative.
