asked the Lord Privy Seal what further steps he proposes to take following the rejection by the Acting Secretary-General of the United Nations of Her Majesty's Government's request for an immediate cease-fire in Katanga.

Since Mr. Tshombe left Elisabethville on 18th December, on his way to his meeting with Mr. Adoula, hostilities have in fact been suspended in Katanga for the duration of the talks at Kitona. Her Majesty's Government welcome this development.
