asked the Minister of Labour what has been the rise in earnings from the third quarter of 1960 to the third quarter of 1961.

The average weekly earnings of manual workers employed in the United Kingdom in the industries covered by the Ministry's half-yearly inquiries rose by nearly 5½ per cent. between October, 1960, and October, 1961. The average hourly earnings rose by 7 per cent.
