asked the Minister of Transport what were the grounds of his decision to dismiss the appeal of R. L. Orsborn and Son Limited against the decision of the East Midland area mechanical engineers limiting to three years the direction of the certificate of fitness issued for two public service vehicles.

My reasons for dismissing this appeal were contained in the decision letter sent to the appellants, who were also given the opportunity of seeing the inspector's report. For appeals of this kind, it is not the practice to make these documents available to other parties.

asked the Minister of Transport what appeals against decisions of area mechanical engineers in respect of certificates of fitness of public service vehicles have been either lodged or determined since the case of R. L. Orsborn and Son Limited; and where and when the inquiries will be held in the case of those not yet determined and, in the case of those already determined, what were the names of the appellants, the decision appealed against and the Minister's decision on such appeals.

One such appeal has been lodged, by W. Higson and Co. Ltd., of Crown Garage, Frome, Somerset, against the decision of a certifying officer to limit the duration of certificates of fitness issued for two public service vehicles. The inquiry was held at the appellants' premises on 1st September. I have not yet decided the appeal.
