asked the Minister of Transport if he will, as a temporary measure, introduce regulations to control the speed of vehicles using motorways in bad weather conditions, giving the police powers to convoy vehicles over prescribed sections of road.

One of the measures which I am urgently considering for an experimental period, in consultation with the police and other interested bodies mainly concerned, is a system of temporary speed limits to be applied on particular lengths of motorway in bad weather. I will announce a decision as soon as I can.
